Original Content: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of exercise on mental health. Previous research has shown a positive association between physical activity and mental well-being; however, there is limited research on the specific effects of exercise on different aspects of mental health. In this study, we aimed to explore the effects of exercise on stress, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem.
We conducted a randomized controlled trial with 200 participants. The participants were randomly assigned to either an exercise group or a control group. The exercise group engaged in a 12-week exercise program, consisting of aerobic and strength training sessions. The control group did not participate in any specific exercise program.
Various measures were used to assess mental health outcomes. The Perceived Stress Scale was used to measure stress levels, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was used to measure anxiety, the Beck Depression Inventory was used to measure depression symptoms, and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was used to measure self-esteem.
The results of the study showed that the exercise group had significantly lower levels of perceived stress compared to the control group. Participants in the exercise group also reported lower levels of anxiety and depression symptoms. Furthermore, their self-esteem scores were significantly higher compared to those in the control group.
These findings suggest that exercise can have a positive impact on mental health. Engaging in regular exercise may help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms, while improving self-esteem. These results highlight the importance of incorporating physical activity into daily routines to promote overall well-being.
In conclusion, this study provides evidence that exercise can improve mental health outcomes. Further research is needed to explore the specific mechanisms through which exercise influences mental well-being. Nonetheless, integrating exercise into daily life may be an effective strategy for enhancing mental well-being and reducing the risk of mental health disorders.
